Come Out and Ride (An Invitation)!

Back in 1997 I decided to ride in what was then the California AIDS Ride, for several reasons, one in honor of my dad, one for the personal challenge and most importantly to support the services at the Gay and Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Now a little more than 11 years later I am getting ready to do it for the twelfth time.  I invite you to sign up and ride with me and several thousand other riders from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June.

There are training rides to get you in the best shape that you've ever been.  In addition to the physical benefits of the ride, you have an opportunity to make lifelong friendships with good-hearted and caring people who share your goal of helping others. The energy of community in our moving city is something you must experience.  The support for the riders is incredible with SAG and medical vehicles available along the route to help any riders in need.  There are pit stops at roughly 15 mile intervals with bike techs, medical teams, snacks and Gatorade.

During the ride you will see California in a way that you've never seen it before. Riding across the state on a bicycle, along back farm roads, across mountains and along the coast for seven days is an experience that can't be duplicated.  Instead of merely passing through and observing communities, you become a part of them and they become a part of you.

When you get to camp each evening, there is a place to park your bike and you can pick up your gear that has been trucked to the campsite while you were riding.  A hot meal has been prepared for you and dinner is an all-you-can-eat affair that's available from 5:00 to 8:30 PM.  The evening is topped off with announcements and information for the following day, usually followed by some sort of entertainment.

Up in the morning to an all-you-can-eat breakfast. After you take your gear and tent to the truck, you're off on your bike for another fantastic day of scenery and comradery. School children line the streets and cheer as you pass through small communities along the way. A stop in the little town of Bradley for a bar-b-que lunch prepared by the local residents is enjoyed by everyone and temporarily swells the town's population tenfold.

Join us and have the experience of a lifetime.  For more information and to sign up at http://www.aidslifecycle.org or click on contact and let me help you got set up.
